Aim of the Fellowship
The Fellowship history begann in the year 2000. The aim of the Fellowship in HPB and Transplantation program is to provide the trainee with the basic and clinical education and experience necessary for that individual to develop expertise in the understanding, diagnosis, and management (including the necessary surgical skills) in the treatment of diseases of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas. The emphasis on Surgical Oncology derives directly from the spectrum of clinical activity in the programme. Clinical and/or translational research productivity is a vital component of the Fellowship. The curriculum was developed to provide a checklist for our fellows in HPB and Transplant surgery. It also guides visiting physicians in their course of study and defines key areas of knowledge necessary for understanding the basic concepts of transplantation surgery.
